Last Updated: August 24, 2026
Our Privacy Commitment
OmShare is designed with privacy as the core principle. We don't store files, don't track users, and don't collect personal data. Your transfers are completely private and secure.
What We Don't Do
- ❌ We don't store file contents
- ❌ We don't track individual users
- ❌ We don't collect personal information
- ❌ We don't use cookies for tracking
- ❌ We don't share data with third parties
- ❌ We don't maintain logs of file transfers
What Happens to Your Data
Transfer Codes: We store 6-digit codes temporarily in our database to enable peer matching. These expire automatically after 24 hours.
Signaling Data: WebRTC signaling information (offers, answers, ICE candidates) is stored briefly during active transfers and deleted upon completion.
File Content: Never stored. Your files transfer directly between browsers using P2P connections.
Cookies & Local Storage
OmShare may use browser localStorage to store your preferences (like dark mode setting). No tracking cookies are used. You can clear this data anytime in your browser settings.
Security
All data in transit is encrypted using:
- WebRTC DTLS encryption (data channels)
- HTTPS for all connections
- Firebase Firestore security rules
Third-Party Services
OmShare uses Firebase for signaling infrastructure. Firebase may collect basic analytics (non-identifying). See Firebase's privacy policy for details: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Data Retention
- Transfer codes: 24 hours
- Signaling data: Duration of transfer only
- Rate limit records: 24 hours
- File content: Never stored
GDPR & Data Rights
Since OmShare doesn't collect personal data, GDPR rights are minimally applicable. You have the right to request deletion of any stored signaling data. Contact: omspradippatil@gmail.com
